ECLIPSE® LASER SYSTEMS

Portable Laser System

Bring Precision Laser Cleaning Directly to the Roll

Some anilox rolls are too large, too heavy or too disruptive to remove from the press for routine cleaning. The Eclipse Portable Laser System brings a 50-watt laser and patented circular scan technology directly to those rolls, giving converters an automated on-press cleaning option without sacrificing the precision of the process.

The system can also be configured for off-press cleaning. ARCS adapts the traverse and support structure to the press, roll position and available working space so the laser follows a stable, controlled path across the rotating roll.

Adaptable by Design

Watch the Portable Laser System go from a transportable set of components to a supported precision cleaning system directly at the roll.

This portable laser system is a practical cleaning platform designed around the equipment already in your pressroom.

PRIMARY ADVANTAGES

Clean Where the Work Happens

Reduce Roll Handling

On-press cleaning reduces the need to lift, transport and reinstall large or hard-to-access rolls. That can simplify maintenance and reduce the risk that comes with unnecessary roll handling.

Configure System Around the Press

Depending on the press and roll location, the traverse may be supported from the floor or secured to the press ends using an application-specific support arrangement. The system has been used on more than 50 presses, with each installation evaluated for access, stability, rotation and safety.

Same Circular Cleaning Technology

Portable does not mean less precise. The system uses the same patented circular scan approach as the R2000, distributing laser energy across a controlled path to remove residue without concentrating heat in a narrow line.

Restore Performance at the Source

Removing dried ink, adhesive or coating from deep within the cells helps recover usable cell volume, improve transfer and make target ink densities or coat weights easier to maintain.

ADAPTABILITY

Designed Around Your Press, Not the Other Way Around

ARCS evaluates the press and configures a support structure that keeps the traverse aligned with the roll. Depending on the application, that may include a floor-supported frame, supports secured to the press ends or a dedicated off-press station.

Once positioned, the laser head moves across the rotating roll at a controlled rate while the extraction system captures the removed contamination.

The result is an automated cleaning process that can reach rolls conventional off-press systems cannot easily accommodate.

Class IV Performance with Controlled Operation

Because the Portable Laser System operates outside a fully enclosed cabinet, it is classified as a Class IV laser. Safe operation requires appropriate laser safety eyewear, controlled access to the work area, trained personnel and the procedures required for the facility and application.

The system includes a physical key switch, password-protected PLC and an automatic shutoff that stops the laser if the roll stops rotating. ARCS also works with the customer team to establish the equipment setup and operating procedures required for the installation.

PATENTED CIRCULAR SCAN TECHNOLOGY

The Safest Laser System on the Market

A conventional linear scan travels back and forth across a narrow line. Where the beam slows, reverses or overlaps, energy can become concentrated.

The patented Eclipse scan moves in a circular pattern as the roll rotates. This controlled movement distributes the laser energy across the surface and prevents the localized hot spots associated with repeated linear overlap.

Our circular scanning spreads laser energy across a controlled path for consistent cleaning without hot-spot damage.

Applications

A Practical Answer for Hard-to-Remove Rolls

The Portable Laser System is especially well suited to wide rolls, heavy rolls, sleeves and rolls located where removal creates substantial downtime or handling difficulty.

It can remove dried ink, adhesives, coatings and other stubborn contamination without abrasive media or liquid cleaning chemicals.

For operations with several press designs, ARCS can also evaluate how the portable platform may be configured across the facility rather than assuming every press requires the same support arrangement.
